Galinette

This adorable bundle is a miniature shih-tzu. I'd not heard of a miniature before. She is of course only a puppy - 8 weeks - and is the new companion of Boutchette, the Bassett Hound, who you've met before and they absolutely adore each other.

She is called Galinette from the book Manon des Sources by Marcel Pagnol. Perhaps you saw the film. And the reason for her name is that she was an anniversary present from Naila to Yvan (owners of the Beausejour restaurant in Gorbio) and their beautiful daughter is called Manon.

Beautiful daughter, beautiful puppy!

Read a review of Le Beau Sejour in Gorbio.

Both are such innocence and sweetness.

The first photo of Galinet is so funny because all you can see is this little furball with a tongue. What a great shot! And the two dogs playing together is just so sweet. Boutchette seems like such a patient, loving dog.

Being a Francophile, especially where films are concerned, I am ashamed to admit I have never seen Manon des Sources. Of course, I will now have to add it to my ever-growing list of movies to watch. Those French have made just too darned many great films.

I also wanted to mention Pixie from the other day. It is always uplifting to hear when dogs with problems like hers find loving homes, and on the Riviera at that! Way to go, Pixie!

Ann, be sure to see Jean de Florette first and after Manon des Sources. It is so long since I saw either of these films, I think I'll buy the DVDs. They were brilliant. Thanks for the idea!

What a cute pup. I wish my humans would get one for me - my brother is not a very warm and friendly friend for me.
