The fountain in Gorbio's square offers a welcome drink for this beautiful Pyrenean Mountain Dog.

Lena

This gorgeous dog is in fact a 7-month old  puppy.  She's called Lena and is a Pyrenean Mountain Dog.  She lives in Gorbio which is where I met her at the recent Fete de la Branda. Isn't she fabulous!

Ice

We met Gus, the Landseer in the last posting. Today, meet his friend, Ice, who is a Pyrenean Mountain Dog.  He's 5 years old and lives in Gorbio village.

Ice

This beautiful Pyrenean Mountain Dog lives in Gorbio and is a two and a half year old male. He's called Ice. He wasn't crazy about posing but was very good at doing his job as a guard dog, despite his owner trying to persuade him to smile for the camera. A lovely rapport though, between dog and owner. She absolutely adores him and the feeling is obviously mutual.

Monaco Dog Show - the Meeting

This is a photograph that went onto Monte Carlo Daily Photo the other day but here it is on the 'Dog Blog.' Just as an experiment I changed the ISO setting on the camera to 2000 which has given this grainy effect, rather as if the photo is printed on canvas. Hope you like the moment when these two Shelties met a Pyrenean Mountain Dog.

Monaco Dog Show - Ready to go Home...

A gorgeous Pyrenean Mountain Dog (Great Pyrenees) at the show. Does he want to be there? I wonder?

Church walk

Really I'm not sure what breed this is. He looks a bit like a Pyrenean Mountain Dog but the tail carriage is wrong and so is the gait. Colour appears wrong for a Maremma sheepdog - could be an Anatolian Shepherd dog? If anyone knows, I'll happily delete these worlds and list him under his rightful breed.

He was having an early morning trot in Fontvieille, which is the area of Monaco reclaimed from the sea. Here he is walking past St. Nicholas church. Click on the link to see this relatively new church in Monaco.

'This honest sheep-dog's countenance I read:
With him can talk; nor blush to waste a word
On creatures less intelligent and shrewd.

William Wordsorth (1770-1850), from "The Pastor"
