Loona and the Late Photo...
Sometimes I take a photograph of a dog and the photo isn't good enough, so I don't use it and occasionally - mea culpa - I forget. So last Saturday, when I took the photo of the three guys below - the one on the right asked why I hadn't put the photo of his Yorkie pup on the blog and then I remembered. It is one of the last pics I took before I got my new camera and somehow, with all the learning processes, I forgot.
So here - rather late - is little Loona, who was only four months old at the time. Adorable eh? How could I have forgotten!

Milou
Milou, the Cavalier King Charles, is 10 years old - perhaps he has bad legs and can't walk much. Perhaps he's spoiled. Here he is in the pedestrian street of Menton.
Look at those loooooong ears...

Lilou, the Llasa Apso
This little sweetie called Lilou belongs to the owner of one of the stalls outside Menton's market. He's there every Saturday and comes from Grasse.
Lilou is a 9 months Llasa Apso. Cutie, eh?!

Suni from Hungary
A lot of people, including this dog, are in Monaco for the Monte Carlo rally.
Meet Suni. She's two years old and from Hungary. Isn't she gorgeous. She was walking in the port yesterday with her young owners who were enjoying the spectacle of the luxury yachts.

Yupi, the Border Terrier
I love Border Terriers. All the ones I've ever met have such super temperaments. This is Yupi who is four and a half and lives in Monaco. When I met him he was out for his morning walk in Fontvieille.

Edouard, the Market Dog
Meet Edouard, a year old French bulldog. He was with his owners, a young couple from Nice who have a stall in the small market that's near to the bus station in Menton. Don't be put off by his being on a chain. He is well wrapped up against the cold and fast asleep until I bothered him!

Daisy again...
You've met Daisy, the Labrador, on this blog before. She lives in Cannes but stays here when her owners are away. This photo is the result of needing to practice with the new camera that dear Santa Claus delivered for Christmas. I'm pleased with the shot and hope you like it too. And by the way, all the others taken on the same day were awful...so there is much to learn!

Patience in pink and purple
Everywhere I look there is a small dog tied up outside a shop - or simply waiting, off lead, as we saw the other day. This little bichon waits patiently outside a fruit and veggie shop. Smart jacket!

Waiting...
This little dog was waiting outside the patisserie for her owner. She looks like a Bearded Collie but she is far too small so I'm not sure what she is - except she's adorable.

Rufus
It seems all the little dogs in the south of France are sporting rather smart coats these days. This is Rufus, a little Min Pin, who is 18 months old. He comes from Milan so no wonder he's stylish! He posed on a bench in Place aux Herbes in Menton.
You can see another smart Min Pin on Menton Daily Photo today.

Eros getting ready for the New Year
My friend, Carla, has a Poodle Parlour in Menton and when I called in the other day, she was smartening up this little Jack Russell type dog for the New Year. He's called Eros and lives in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
Apologies for the not quite sharp photo - I had the wrong lens on the camera (honest!)

The Christmas Dog
Happy Christmas everyone! This is one of four dogs in the Jardin Bioves in Menton, bringing you a nice pressie! When I took this photo, the sun was shining. Since then we've had endless heavy rain for days and he now looks somewhat bedraggled!
Have a great day and thank you so much for your visits to this this blog. Woof woof!

Spike
Is he a Boxer or a Bulldog? This 9 months old pup caught my eye walking through the Christmas Fair in Menton. Legs are too long for a bulldog yet too short for a boxer and right, he's a mix of the two. Isn't he gorgeous?
Spike lives in Genoa, Italy - just along the Ligurian coast from Menton.

Fidgie, the Wolfdog
The fishmonger in Carnoles has a new young dog. She's 12 months old and is called Fidgie. He spent most of the time we were talking throwing her heads of fish.
He told me she is a Wolf and he had to wait a long time to get her from a special breeder. He insists she is pure Wolf but to me she looks mostly German Sheepdog Dog with perhaps a bit of Wolf mixed in. He told me she's not an easy breed. He also told me that Wolves only come into season once in their life, hence his long wait for a puppy.
I gather that Wolf hybrids are now classified as Wolfdogs and that would seem to be what Fidgie is and probably what the fishmonger meant, with me misunderstanding his French.

Village Dogs
Village dogs have a good life. They can wander anywhere they like, off lead. These two wire-haired dachshunds (teckels in French) live in the medieval village of Castellar, which is in the hills above Menton.
One them, as if to emphasise how cute she is, rolled on her back when I tried taking her photogaph. Yes, I know...submissive behaviour really.

Ritzy
This adorable Maltese Terrier (bichon maltais in French) was sitting on a bench overlooking Larvotto beach. She's called Ritzy. A good name for a Monte Carlo dog, don't you think. Such a little character and only 3 months old.

Two Spots
The other day we met Beamish, the Bernese Mountain Dog. Today, we meet Two Spots, a 7-year old Australian Blue Heeler.
I met Beamish and Two Spots near to Menton's market with their owners - a charming Canadian couple who had flown over from Canada to stay in their Menton apartment and have their baby in the hospital in Monaco. Following our meeting I looked after Beamish and Two Spots for a few days during which time the baby - a beautiful little girl - was born in Monaco.
So now Beamish and Two Spots have a new baby sister!

Beamish
Have you ever met a Bernese Mountain Dog that isn't totally adorable? They have the most divine temperaments. I met 7 year old Beamish in Menton one day - out with his Canadian owners and his friend, Two Spots. We'll meet Two Spots in the next post - and then I'll tell you their story...

Patience
Dogs are so patient, aren't they? They just want to be with us - doesn't matter if we are texting, reading, watching the television, ignoring them - so long as they are with us, they are happy.
This lovely Sheltie waits quite happily with her owner near the beach at Cap Martin.
