Hanna at PhotoMenton

A visitor to PhotoMenton yesterday! She's called Hanna, is three and a half years old and lives in Villefranche Sur Mer.  Hanna is a Coton de Tulear, a breed from Madagascar.  Dogs are only allowed in PhotoMenton if they are carried, (and Hanna is heavy) so she happily sat on my lap, or the chair, whilst her owners had a look around the exhibition.

Time to Box

Much of Larvotto Beach in Monaco is closed for winter. But nothing will stop this lovely boxer asking me to throw the ball yet once more! His owners are closing up their shop for the winter.

Une grande partie de la plage du Larvotto à Monaco est fermée pour l'hiver. Mais rien ne peut empêcher de ce beau boxeur de me demander de lancer la balle une fois encore! Ses propriétaires ont fermé leur boutique pour l'hiver.

Emma and Joe

My beautiful friend, Emmanuelle and Joe, the Cocker spaniel at the Coulée Verte in Nice.  This is one of the photos I'm exhibiting at PhotoMenton this year. (Palais de l'Europe, Menton until Sunday...) - do come along!

Pauline and puppies

This is adorable Pauline who lives in Gorbio village.  Since I took this photo, the pups have gone to their forever homes but she still has the pups' parents to play with.

Flying Staffy

The flying (!) Staffordshire Bull Terrier is  one of the photos in my presentation at PhotoMenton this year.  He is an Agility dog who was entered in last year's competition in Menton.

Kiwi

This is Kiwi, a 6 month old apricot poodle.  Kiwi was born in Canada and flown over to France when he was three months old.  As life goes on, he'll be regularly flying back and forth between his owner's two homes: Montreal and Monaco.

Little 'Biggie'

Another puppy-fix today.  Here's little 'Biggie' again doing what a Jack Russell does best - exploring and having fun.

Lady

This bundle of fluff, sitting on her owner's feet for security (!) is a Pyrenean Shepherd dog, known in France as the Berger des Pyrénées. She's called Lady, is two and a half months old and lives in Menton.

The dog who thinks it's a cat!

Titine, the French bulldog, thinks she's a cat!  She and her owner Denis, who live in Gorbio, are at Sini's restaurant in Menton - a great place for a light lunch - perhaps a slice of pissaladiere and with a glass of wine, of course!

Didier

This dog looks like a poodle, doesn't he? In fact he's an Italian breed called a Lagotto Romagnolo. He's only 10 months old and is called Didier.  Dider lives in Nice. 

Biggie

Meet Biggie!  A 3 month old Jack Russell terrier looking too cute for words!

Biggie has just started his new life with a friend of mine and will live in Monaco and Denmark and be much loved. Lucky puppy!

Injured Dog

The pedestrian street in Menton: The fluffy dog in the lady's arms was injured in an accident but has been stitched up and is now on the mend.

Raffi, the Biewer Yorkshire terrier

This is a black and white Yorkie.  Known is a 'Biewer' terrier - or Biewer Yorkshire terrier - ie a Yorkie that is black and white and brown.  The breed originated in Germany.

I met tiny 14 month old Raffi yesterday on Larvotto Beach in Monaco, where she lives.  Isn't she adorable!

3 Jacks

Promenade des Anglais, Nice.  3 guys, 3 Jack Russell terriers, 1 greeting.  They are known as Jacks in France.

Lily

Lily, an adorable Yorkshire terrier of 15 months outside a restaurant on Avenue Jean Médecin in Nice yesterday where her owner was eating lunch.

Domino

Meet Domino, a Yorkie mix, leaning on her owner's shoulder.  Of course I couldn't resist snapping that face!  Domino lives in the Champagne region but was on holiday in Menton.

There's something so similar about these two ... the tones, the tilt of the head, the expression.  Nicky the Yorkie is three years old and lives in Germany but at this moment in sitting in Place aux Herbes, Menton.

Rocky

This is Rocky.  His owner tells me he is a Bichon Havernais (Havernese) although his coat doesn't seem curly enough. Perhaps Havernese pups are like this when tiny and then the coat curls later?  Rocky lives in L'Escarene which is in the hills above Nice.

Refuge dog Diego

This pretty little dog had been given his forever-home only two days before I met him,  yet seems full of confidence and happy.  He's got one blue and one brown eye and is called Diego. He now lives in Villeneuve Loubet.  He and his new owner were at the Fete de la Branda in Gorbio. Lucky dog, lucky owner.

Ascot

This beautiful English setter is called Ascot and lives in Gorbio village with his owner, Rénée - a well-known local lady who used to run the village shop.

Lilou

Another puppy today.  Isn't she pretty! This is 4 month old Lilou who is a mix between a Beagle and an English cocker spaniel.  Lilou lives in Menton.

Mika and puppy

Gorbio. This is Mika with one of his 10 adorable puppies.  They are a mix of American Bulldog, Ipso (that's Dad) and Mama, who is called Gandja, and is a mix of Boxer and Golden Retriever.

Not long now and they'll be looking for their forever homes.

Sacha

Rough Collies used to be a really popular breed. I suppose from the days of 'Lassie come Home' but nowadays they are rarely seen.

I met this beauty in Ravello, on the Ligurian coast of Italy.  He's called Sacha and he's 3 years old.

'Ours' and the photography magazine

This is my rescue dog 'Ours' displaying a French photography magazine, Chasseur d'Images, which features an article on Laure Agneray. Laure photographs her three children and has recently published a beautiful book, ''Confiance et Reves Eveilles.' Totally inspirational and gorgeous photography.

Santa Margherita puppy

This very young puppy was being led along a street in Santa Margherita, near Portofino in Italy.  The young owner didn't know what breed he is. She said 'pastoral' but that's all she knew.  He looks as if he might have had his ears and tail cropped. Hopefully not.

Thank you to a reader who suggests he is a  Caucasian Ovcharka and indeed it is a breed who has its ears cropped.

Woof!

This little dog, who lives in Rapallo, Italy, wasn't too happy at being photographed. He's certainly cute though.

Pooch in Portofino

A pooch in Portofino, Italy.  Couldn't resist this boy and his dog outside his parents' gallery in the port. The Jack Russell terrier is called Marquis.

Joe

Joe, the cocker spaniel, lives in Nice. 

The beautiful legs belong to his owner, Emmanuelle, who kindly agreed to ruin a pair of shoes posing for photos in the Coulée Verte in October last year.
