Begging Bouchette

This is Bouchette, the Bassett Hound who belongs to the Restaurant Beausejour in Gorbio.  In fact, she's sitting on the terrace of the bar opposite, Les Terrasses, hoping for a morsel from the table and not getting it ...!

Can I? Can I?

This is one little dog who adores his owner and just wants to please.  We've met Mr. Mojo before and I know we'll meet him again. Mr. Mojo lives in Monte Carlo with his owner, my friend Nicky.

Basil

Meet Basil, an exceedingly handsome Llasa Apso.  Note the smart animal print container (attached to his lead) and used to hold his 'poop' bags.  I met Basil in Gorbio village yesterday.

Table Dog?

This Jack Russell looks as if he's standing on a table but in fact he is standing on a wall alongside this restaurant in Place du Cap, Menton.   Dogs are part of life in France and if you go to a restaurant, then of course, your dog can go too.  I approve!

'Fair' dog

There's a Fair on in Menton at the moment and this dog was tied up at the back of one of the rides waiting for his owner to close down for the day.  Note the one blue and one brown eye. 

William

Couldn't resist snapping William today. I met him on the promenade above Larvotto Beach in Monaco.  Just a pup, a big pup and looking adorable. He's a Standard Poodle or, as the French call them, a Caniche Royale.

Lolly

Boxer puppies are adorable... well all puppies are adorable!  I love Boxers but they are boisterous and very strong. She'll be a ball of muscle when she matures.  Her name is Lolly and I met her on the pedestrian street in Menton.

We've met the adorable Mr. Mojo before on this blog but not with this photograph.  Mr. Mojo, a handsome French bulldog lives in Monaco with my friend, Nicky.

Larry and Haston

Now this is an idea to save you walking the dog!  Meet Larry and Haston, two English Bulldogs who live in Menton. Here they are in Menton's beautiful Parc du Pian.

Milou, the GoldenDoodle

This beauty is a GoldenDoodle (a mix of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle) - isn't she gorgeous.

Milou is only one and a half years old yet so well behaved.  She lives in Munich and was on her way home - just passing through Menton.

Black and White

This little dog looks a bit like a Tibetan Terrier but with prick ears - so I don't know what he is - other than he's cute.

Jagger

Jagger, a shih-tzu who lives in Nice.

Darwin

A new puppy Golden Retriever puppy - nearly four months old and already chasing sticks on one of Menton's beaches. He's called Darwin. Adorable!

Bisous

Bisous (kisses) lives in Menton and is 7 years old. Her mother was a Llasa Apso but, as her owners told me, her father didn't leave a visiting card!

Whisky is a Maltese terrier who lives in Nice.  Don't you love his 'direct at the camera' look.  So much in those eyes.

A dog walker in Nice last night.  She has seven dogs in her charge, although two are hidden.  I nearly got run over!

Maggie is a Red and White Irish Setter who lives in Monaco and loves pulling funny faces!

Choupinette

This is Choupinette, aged 11 and blind in one eye. She is a 'Royal Bourbon' - a breed from the Isle of Reunion, from where she was rescued and brought into France for adoption.  Horrifically dogs are sometimes used as shark bait on the Isle of Reunion - yes, a hook fixed, often through the nose and thrown in the sea.

Clumber

This is a Clumber spaniel at the Monaco Dog Show earlier in the year.  Clumbers are, I believe, the heaviest of all the spaniels.

Not a breed we see often n the south of France although there is one who lives in Menton.

This is a different photo of the wire-haired dachshund we met yesterday - today with a second dog hanging out of his pocket!

Skull and Crossbones

Dachshunds, especially wire-haired dachshunds, are too adorable, aren't they?  This one was at Monaco Dog Show earlier this year.  He looks as if he wishes his owner would hurry up with whatever he is doing.   Note the skull and crossbones leash.

Macho Dog

He looks fierce, doesn't he?  As for the hole in one ear and the chunk out of the other one, perhaps he was used as a fighting dog in the past.  Totally illegal, of course, and despicable. He was peering over a wrought iron fence in Gorbio village.

Get me outta here!

Get me outta here!  Sometimes I call in to a dog grooming salon in Menton - the owner is a friend of mine - and so of course I have to snap the dogs.  This little bichon has just been bathed and is waiting to be dried.

This is Helline, a Lagotto Romagnolo, an Italian water-dog breed.

Akita in a bag

We met this tiny Pomeranian a couple of weeks ago, when his owner posed him alone in Place Massena, Nice. Here he is being walked (carried!) home. He's called Akita.  His owner has a sense of humour!
