Santa Margherita puppy

This very young puppy was being led along a street in Santa Margherita, near Portofino in Italy.  The young owner didn't know what breed he is. She said 'pastoral' but that's all she knew.  He looks as if he might have had his ears and tail cropped. Hopefully not.

Thank you to a reader who suggests he is a  Caucasian Ovcharka and indeed it is a breed who has its ears cropped.

Woof!

This little dog, who lives in Rapallo, Italy, wasn't too happy at being photographed. He's certainly cute though.

A pooch in Portofino, Italy.  Couldn't resist this boy and his dog outside his parents' gallery in the port. The Jack Russell terrier is called Marquis.

Joe

Joe, the cocker spaniel, lives in Nice. 

The beautiful legs belong to his owner, Emmanuelle, who kindly agreed to ruin a pair of shoes posing for photos in the Coulée Verte in October last year.

I owe you a pair of shoes, Emma!

A Handful ...

You could say a handful!  A chihuahua and a Yorkie who live in Nice.

The Russian Toy Terrier

This is Hysathis, only 15 months old.  She is a Russian Toy Terrier.   It seems the breed was bred from the English Toy Terrier, now known as the Manchester Terrier.  Click link to read more.

I think this dog is a Laekenois, a variety of Belgian Shepherd dog. Not sure tho!

Australian Shepherd

One alert Australian shepherd dog ready for the show ring at the Monaco Dog Show.  His owner knows she has a long wait ahead.

The Australian Shepherd, interestingly is an American breed, developed on ranches in the western United States.

Titoo

This adorable Jack Russell puppy is called Titoo. He lives in Gorbio village.

Jazz and Jenna

These two pups are called Jazz and Jenna.  They are one year old and live in Menton. I met them and their family when I was photographing a 50s Rock event in Menton. 

Tess and ball

Tess and ball.  We've met Tess before on Riviera Dogs - she was found at 24 hours old, along with her three brothers and sisters, tied up in a plastic bag and thrown into a rubbish bin. The pups were hand-reared by the kind lady who found them - and look at Tess now. 6 years old and one happy dog.

Harley the Bloodhound

Bloodhounds are not for everyone (as you see they do drool!) but I, for one, love them.  This is Harley, he's 5 years old and he lives in Monaco.  Harley ended up in a refuge in Belgium and from there he was rescued by his current and forever owners. Lucky boy!
